Hello there, reader! Today feels like a sharing day so I thought this would be a good time to share with you an adventure that I recently went on with a couple of friends to explore a local,  abandoned building.  Our main reason for visiting the hall was  for photography purposes, but we also visited out of curiosity; I've had an interest in abandoned buildings for some time but have limited my interest to reading online articles and blog posts, which meant that this was my chance to at last experience the  eerie atmosphere that comes with abandoned buildings and explore one for myself. The first room we entered was sinister, to say the least. This was mostly due to the fact that all of the windows -bar one- had been barricaded with  thick sheets of wood, meaning that our only sources of  light were the shattered windows from which we entered and the weak flicker of our hand-held torches. As I recently started plans to give my room a bit of a mini  make-over to try to force some life back into it, I thought this would be a good time to show off some of the really cute  items I bought that just add a little somethin' to the room! Firstly, I picked up this utterly wonderful book cover poster from a shop in the Brighton Laines called 'England at Home' (worry not- they have a fab website!). The shop itself was a dream come true! Around every corned was a trendy little piece of furniture or cushion!  As well as falling head-over-heels in love with the shop, I happened to also adore this poster, and I have to say that it makes a lovely  addition to the room, especially in this poster frame I nabbed off Ebay!  Secondly, I had my eyes on a company I recently discovered  known as 'Cable and Cotton' who are also native to Brighton.  The store is basically a pick-and-mix light shop! "The Thing About America" A couple of years ago I took a family trip around the West Coast of America, and so here I am, finally articulating my thoughts on this not-so-long-established nation.  The first thing I want to mention is the history, the USA may appear as a well-established, historical country, but trust me, that couldn't be further from the truth. Hello there reader, so, we all have our sacred place, whether it be in a treehouse, a bedroom, or even in one's own mind, I'm sure that we all have our beloved spot  that is ours and ours alone. My special place is probably completely different from  yours, but I've decided to share with you a space that has been my sanctuary for the past two years, and continues to be a place of deep thought and peace for me. Cannery Row by John Steinbeck I have to admit, I think I've caught Steinbeck-fever as I've found  myself yearning for his unpredictable story-lines, warm, vivid characters, and the stunning rural scenery that he so beautifully describes in all of his books.  Cannery Row initially caught my eye due to it's gorgeous Cover art (by Kathryn MacNaughton) which, in my opinion, successfully captures the mood of the novel. 2.
